For some reason I had second thoughts on the bike I was buying and backed out, not exactly sure why but just wasnít as keen as I felt I should be. I have however found another one though, a European import but will I have to swap the headlight for a uk one and I believe that can the clocks be switched to mph?

Cheers,
Mark

Right people, bike now secured and deposit paid. Due to my work pattern and the seller going abroad Iíll collect it at the end of the month :0). Itís an Italian import, completely standard, 40,000km but I think it will need a uk headlight?

Hard to say regarding the headlight.
Before we realised that Aprilia had fitted a number of UK bikes with European headlights (which they changed over for free), I don't recall anybody having problems at MOT time.
I think the beam pattern is not that severe.
However, MOT tests have got tighter so maybe this would be picked up these days.
I guess it's better to swap it if you can.

Every time the battery is disconnected the dash display will revert to factory settings, which is kph and a 6,500 rpm limit, sometimes it just does it anyway !
Easy to sort,
kph to mph, push and hold button A until mph flashes, then push button B to confirm.
To change rpm limit, turn ignition on, the needle will rise to the set limit then fall to 0, push and hold buttonn C until chosen figure is achieved, 9,500 is good.
When you have set mph, switch off, then set rpm, switch off, then on again, all should be good

No worries mate, we all have to start some where !
If you never ask the answer will always be NO.
Really good crowd on here, tons of know how, all for free ! (Well almost free, it may cost a pint or two in the virtual bar and there may be an element of good natured pisstaking ).
Now you can congratulate yourself on having refined choice in bikes

For any new Falco owner, this site is a REALLY useful resource - downloadable workshop manual in searchable PDF/OCR format, cheat sheet to tell you how to use and abuse the buttons on the controls, plus lots of other stuff:
